It looks like we're ready to have another release.

Some of the important changes are as follows:
- Fixed target os version detection. NetbookInsatller will no longer refuse to install on updated OS's later than the one it was released for
- Fix /Extra deletion bug. You no longer have to select both regenerate dsdt and install extensions for the machine to be be bootable.
- Added Chameleon 2 RC3 (r658) to the installer.
- Added Mini 10v audiofix (thanks go to lnxneo for this)
- Updated touchpad driver especially for the 10v to allow two finger scrolling to be enable while also allowing dragging.
- Numerous under the hood changes specifically to make the installer more modular and to allow for it to be modified without recompiling it. This is due to the use of plists.
- Initial 10.6 support (Including numerous bug fixes that causes the program to terminate early).
- USB Audio devices now work
- A few other minor changes to the gui and to a couple of kexts
- You no longer need to delete the dsdt file to generate a new one after a hardware upgrade. The dsdt patcher will now use your original dsdt if you install Chameleon 2 RC3.

Please test this out and let us know if you find any bugs.

EDIT: final release is now out here:

I've got a bug for you. NetbookInstaller is not recognizing my Dell Mini 10v, and only installs generic kexts. Also, I tried both running the app in 10.5.8 and booted into the USB drive, same results. Since I installed it I've lost audio and for some reason it won't boot except in Safe Mode. I checked the options to install the new bootloader, hide files, install (general) extensions and to generate a new dsdt.aml.

I had for the most part the same results as Mechdrew (but my machine booted up fine in all modes). It did not recognize the Vostro A90 and installed generic files. This resulted in no sound. If there is anything else you would like me to test, I would be more than happy to.

Regards,

Jason

I noticed that too. I accidentally used a < instead of a <= in a comparison.
That has been fixed.
The mkext generation routine will probably be changed for w/ the next rc.
Also, UpdateExtra.app is broken in this version. It's missing a plist and when it exists creates an unbeatable system. I've fixed the plist issue and still have to look into the mkext generation.
I'll try to fix that bug and post an update later today.

Hi, any idea when the updated file will be uploaded? I also have to boot my Mini 10v in safe mode since trying the new software.

Thanks

Those are the risk of beta testing ;-) Have you trier running 0.8.1 again to see if it will fix things up? I bet it will.

I've just uploaded the new version.

-- Known Bugs
NetbookBootMaker does not remove pervious NetbookInstaller or NetbookInstallerCLI versions. This can cause problems when extensions change.
The show / hide Extra files is broken and will toggle the current state if checked.
USB Audio devices do not load on the mini 9. This is due to the IOAudioFamily kext being installed to /Extra instead of /S/L/E which causes a version conflict (when on 10.5.7+) due to a newer kext in /S/L/E.

Ok, I downloaded the latest version and it still boots to a garbled screen. Am I installing it wrong?

Try using running the boot maker and running it form there (it's in the utility menu)
