Asus confirms three Eee PC T91 SKUs: base, 3G & multitouch | Netbook Choice

Asus has a lot riding on its first convertible netbook, the 8.9-inch Eee PC T91. It is their first netbook to have a swivel screen that can also be used as a tablet device. We know that several different versions of the T91 are planned, including the 3G-enabled T91GO. We also know that a Windows 7 multitouch version is planned from our conversations with Asus. However, what we didn’t know were the model numbers and specification differences.

According to AsusTablet, the standard version (T91) will be followed by the 3G T91GO, which will also have GPS and a digital TV Tuner. The multitouch Windows 7 version will use the model name T91A. The Eee PC T91GO will weigh 0.06kg heavier than the standard SKU at 1.02kg, probably to account for the weight of the TV Tuner.

Jolicloud Alpha 2 Release

The folks at Jolicloud have released Jolicloud Alpha 2, their second alpha release. Though, only a small batch of invitations have been sent out, I assume.

If you have a netbook with GMA 500 graphics, then you are out of luck. So the population of people out there with Dell Mini 10, Acer Aspire One 751s, Sony Vaio Ps, ASUS Eee PC 1101HAs, MSI Wind U115s, ASUS Eee PC S121s etc are out of luck, for now at least.

The Jolicloud crew are looking for support from programmers, developers and if you have a cool app that is great for netbooks, let them know.

ASUS Eee PC 1005HA Seashell netbook

Offers 10+ hour battery life

ASUS has added another member to its lineup of Eee netbook computers with the 1005HA Seashell that claims to have a runtime of up to 10.5 hours on its 6-cell battery. According to ASUS, the longevity is due to the Intel Atom N280 processor in combination with its Super Hybrid Engine and LED backlit display.

According to the marketing folks at ASUS the 1005HA’s “inspired by the graceful curves of a seashell”. That design includes a large keyboard which measures 92% of the size of a standard keyboard and weighs only 2.8 pounds. In addition to the 1.66GHz N280 processor, the Seashell includes 1GB of memory (upgradeable) and a 160GB SATA II hard drive spinning at 5400RPM. The 1005HA is equipped with Windows XP Home and Eee Docking software, which provides easy access to utilities and software.

ASUS says the units are available for preorder at $389.99 USD and are being offered in either Crystal Black or Midnight Blue.

Samsung launches designer edition netbooks

Over the past few days, the folks at SammyNetbook have spotted two different designer edition netbooks from Samsung. A few days ago, Samsung launched the Agnes B. Edition NC10 netbook in France. This model is basically just a standard NC10 with a stylish lid signed by the designer, and featuring a lizard.

Now it looks like UK retailer John Lewis is selling another version of the Samsung NC10 with a floral pattern on the lid.
